At the heart of Ain, Saint-Vulbas surprises and delights with its energy. Here, past and future move at the same pace: a preserved rural heritage, enhanced by generous natural spaces and vibrant floral displays, stands alongside major industrial development.
Steeped in history, the village reveals the traces of an important Gallo-Roman settlement through its archaeological remains and remarkable heritage. From the church, first mentioned in the 9th century, to the Chapel of Marcilleux on the banks of the Rhône, every stone tells a story of the past.
Yet Saint-Vulbas is also unmistakably shaped by movement. A true cycling destination, the municipality thrives on the energy of major competitions. Following the Tour de France in 2024, it is now building on that momentum by hosting the start of the Tour de l’Ain and a stage of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
