Beyond the sporting aspect, Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes undertakes to support sustainable mobility. Cycling embodies the ecological means of transport par excellence and fits in perfectly to the Tour de France’s policy: Riding into the Future.
ECORESPONSIBILITY
Sustainable mobility
The organisation's vehicle fleet is making the transition to electric mobility. All the vehicles that make up the fleet, around 50, are plug-in hybrid.
The Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes encourages its spectator to use train, public transportation, bike, carpooling or any other sustainable transport to come cheer the riders.
Waste Management
A technical document dedicated to waste management was sent to the host cities. Its purpose is one the one hand to assist them in implementing a waste management system and on the other hand to standardize waste sorting throughout the event.
On each stage, 4 to 6 collection zones are available to the riders for disposing their waste.
Natural ressources protection
Respecting the environment and preserving biodiversity are a priority for the organisers of the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The BIOTOPE consultancy firm has been assisting the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes since 2011 for performance of impact studies on Natura 2000 sites (the European network of protected remarkable natural areas). In 2026, the race will cross through 29 zones located in 10 departments.
SOCIAL COMMITMENTS
Commitments for inclusiveness
It is the desire of A.S.O. to make race information available to the blind and people with visual impairment. In cooperation with HandiCaPZéro, cycling enthusiasts will be able to take advantage of the roadbook, for free, in braille, with enlarged characters or in audio format (on CD and via download).

The Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes will once again welcome the French Para-Adaptive Cycling Team of the French Federation for Adapted Sport (FFSA) in 2026. The team will take part in the opening of the individual time trial in Perreux on Tuesday, June 9, during Stage 3 of the race.
In 2025, A.S.O. renewed its financial commitment to the FFSA for a further three years. This support enables the federation’s athletes to train with adapted equipment, helps identify new talents through dedicated training programmes, and contributes to the development of adapted cycling education initiatives for FFSA participants.
Commitment to the youth
As part of the "Young Cyclists" stage, the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes will open its roads to young riders from across the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region during Stages 4 and 7. Join us on Wednesday, June 10 for Stage 4 and on Saturday, June 13 for Stage 7.
