Saint-Priest is a prominent player in the east of Lyon. As the fifth-largest municipality in the Rhône department in terms of population, and the second-largest in terms of surface area, it is surprisingly both urban and rural in character. It is varied and diverse, with a strategic geographical position, and it is as passionate about the area’s economic development as it is about the quality of life of its 49,425 residents. With the rural charm of the Village in the historic heart of the town, the Fort and its 35 hectares of parkland, as well as the Château, the jewel in the town's crown, Saint-Priest is a great place to live. The reopening of the iconic Théo Argence theatre and a brand new cinema in a rapidly changing city centre attest to the ambitious and popular cultural policy of Saint-Priest. Saint-Priest has been awarded the "Ville active et sportive" (Active and Sporting Town) label (4 laurel wreaths), and has a wide range of facilities making it easier for everyone to take part in sporting activities, such as its water sports centre, which has had two additional pools since 2024.
