Charmes-sur-Rhône is a town in the Ardèche department, with 3,260 inhabitants, who are known as Charmésiens. It covers 6 km² at 120 metres above sea level. The Rhône and several streams run through the area, creating a pleasant natural environment. The town has a rich historical heritage, with paved narrow streets and Roman remains such as the sarcophagus of Alethius, located beneath the front steps of the town hall. The feudal castle, although partially dismantled, bears witness to the town's medieval past.
