With a population of over 7,800, Saint-Péray, in the Ardèche region, is just a few kilometres from Valence and is part of the Communauté de communes Rhône Crussol. At the foot of the majestic ruins of the 12th-century Château de Crussol, this delightful small residential town combines a vibrant lifestyle with a strong commercial tradition that is reflected in the bustling market every Wednesday morning. Much of the area's economic activity revolves around wine-growing and its 115 hectares of vines, with the reputation of its PDO white wine, both still and sparkling, being well established. The traditional wine festival, held on the first weekend in September, draws thousands of visitors. Cultural events can be held at the Château de Beauregard or in the magnificent open-air theatre on the higher grounds of Crussol. With almost 3,000 members across around twenty associations, Saint-Péray is an extremely sporty town. What’s more, Saint-Péray is the birthplace of the Pic family, at the Auberge du Pin, where the extraordinary gastronomic adventure began, making Anne-Sophie Pic the most Michelin-starred chef in the world!
