Juan Ayuso: "An amazing ride to prepare for the Tour"
June 14 th 2026 - 18:15
"I really tried my best because the team was amazing. It was a really hard start. Julien [Bernard] was dropped, Lenny [Kämna] too, and they fought back to help me. That was impressive and I’m super proud with how the team rode. I think we showed we were the strongest team. We controlled everything with no help. We could also see Toms [Skujins] and Quinn [Simmons] passing these super tough mountains. I was already suffering and these guys were pulling. They deserved a win, but Quinn could get one and we can be happy with finishing on the podium.
The road to here was not easy. Preparation was more difficult than what I would have hoped for. So finishing on the podium and feeling like I improved every day, I’m happy, and I hope I can recover well and be ready for next month.
When [Del Toro] went so far away, I was hoping what happened yesterday would be the other way around. He was just on another level today. We have to accept it. Skjelly rode an amazing pull for me, sacrificing himself. I really tried to use all the force of the team to my advantage. And then I went. Al in all, it was an amazing ride to prepare for the Tour."
