“It’s an incredible feeling. I don’t get many chances each year so when I have one it’s amazing. I’m so happy to win here.

I think we’ve taken a big step this year and the whole team has really stepped up. The atmospheres really, we have so much fun together. I come straight from a full week of altitude with the team. We had a really good time and it’s a perfect environment to be motivated and to perform.

With a very long stage, it was about saving energy for the last moment. On the second last climb, I knew it was a bit too long for my abilities. I tried to be patient, not panic when the guys got away. And then the final climb was perfect for me.

Hopefully this is a good result to make the team selection for the Tour. But first of all, it’s about enjoying this victory.”
