Baudin: "Absolutely mad"

"I don’t know if it’s sunk in yet. I only really believed it with 500 metres to go. I don’t know what to say, it’s absolutely mad.

I was really targeting this stage. I knew there was a chance and I was a bit worried I wouldn’t be good enough. I had food poisoning yesterday morning and I wasn’t feeling confident at all at the start. To do this is mad.

It’s so hard to win. You’re always waiting for it, but I felt I’d turned a corner at the start of the year. Today, the stars aligned for me. It’s perfect.

And taking the Yellow Jersey – it’s even better to do it so close to home. My family is here. It’s just brilliant.

It’s funny because this morning my girlfriend stuck a sticker of my cat on my stem. Maybe it was a sign, to help me push even harder and get this win."
