In the heart of the Isère department, Charantonnay has 2,000 inhabitants spread over 1,100 hectares. It is located equidistant between Vienne and Bourgoin-Jallieu, to the south of the COLL'in Communauté area and close to the Lyon region and its source of employment. The village's economy is based mainly on skilled craft industries, with a significant agricultural sector. Its natural heritage is rich in woodland and surrounded by ponds. The village is characterised by the vibrancy of its sports, cultural and leisure associations, which have helped it to make a name for itself on a national level with the Grand Prix Cycliste and the games club's Rubik's Cube Challenge. Twinned with the Piedmontese village of Tavagnasco since 2018, Charantonnay is lively and attractive, and remains a rural village where life is good. Charantonnay was created in 1875 from the territories of Beauvoir-de-Marc and Saint-Georges-d'Espéranche. This year, the village celebrates its 150th anniversary.
