Christophe Le Mével in search of confidence

As he completed the Criterium of the Dauphiné in tenth place overall last year, Christophe Le Mével wants to do well again. The Frenchman has prepared for the race in altitude training camps in the Alps at La Foux d’Allos and Tignes. “I did it with my team-mate Wesley Sulzberger who won the GP Plumelec last week, which is a sign of the good work we’ve done”, Le Mével told letour.fr.
“My approach of the Dauphiné is very different from last year”, he added. “In 2009, I came 12th at the Volta Catalunya in May, so I knew I was going well. This time around, I’m fresh. I might suffer at the beginning. But the time trial will be an interesting test. Most of all, I want to fight in the mountains with the best climbers.”
Besides super hot favourite Alberto Contador, Le Mével is potentially one of the main contenders of the Dauphiné. “I’m motivated”, he said. “I target the top 10 again, maybe even better but without any pressure. My priority is to come out of the Dauphiné with great confidence for the Tour de France.”
